September 9, 2011

Nickolas had another fever today. He will be here until Sunday at the earliest. They are waiting for the results of his blood work. If there are no germs growing then he should be okay to leave. If germs are found the plan will change and he could be here longer. I brought him Taco Bell twice today. I talked to him on the phone once and he told me he cried for Taco Bell. He has been in the bed since he has been here. Tomorrow he will get a bath so hopefully he will feel a little better. We should know the results of his blood work tomorrow.

September 8, 2011 Back in the Hospital

Tiffany noticed around 5 this morning that Nickolas felt warm. She checked his temperature and he had a fever. When she called the doctor he told her to take him straight to the hospital. They admitted him because of what may be causing the fever. His platelet count had actually increased so he does not need more platelets at this time. As you can imagine, he was not very happy about returning to the hospital. When he heard the nurse say something about "going upstairs" he knew what that meant. He definitely hangs on every word and knows what's going on. I brought him a burrito and as soon as he was done he asked me for another one. He settled for a Taco and orange popsicle. He is sleeping now. I'll try to keep everyone updated. We know he will be here at least for tonight.

Bed Time!

A friend of mine went to Disney World and brought these ears back for the kids. They loved them! Nickolas goes back to the doctor in the morning to receive platelets. Today he complained about his ear and leg hurting. Usually the first part of the day Nickolas is very cranky. After his nap he usually perks up. Today he even said Tiffany could go to the grocery store. (who knew she needed permission from a 3 year old?) She would never go unless he says it's ok. While she was gone he napped and had lunch. As I write this he just yelled to me and said, "Hey, Tonya? I threw up in that chair and spit my medicine and crackers out!" I said, "Why did you do that?" He said, "Cause I really didn't want to take my medicine, but I did. But I didn't want to." So as you can tell, medicine time is still very challenging around here. Tiffany sure has her hands full! Say a little prayer for them as they go back to the hospital tomorrow for a checkup and to receive more platelets.

Big Appetite

Today has been a good day. He was helping me in the kitchen when he yelled to his mommy and said, "Hey Mommy? Did you know I don't want to take my medicine anymore?" He does not like taking it and fights it every time. We keep telling him it will make him feel better, but he's not buying it. He still has a great appetite which this picture proves perfectly. Tiffany said he had two cheese sandwiches at 7:30 this morning. He pretty much hasn't stopped since then. It's funny and pitiful all at the same time.
